About this game

Flail.io is a fast-paced arena .io game in which your weapon is a spiked flail chained behind you. You move in circles to swing it faster and faster. When your flail glows red, it is moving at lethal speed: hit a rival's body and they are smashed instantly. Slow hits only push them away.

You collect glowing orbs to grow. The bigger you get, the longer your chain becomes and the heavier your flail swings. Every smashed player spills all of their mass across the arena, so be quick and grab it before anyone else. Flails bounce off each other, so you can block an incoming attack with your own flail. Time your swings, protect your body and outplay rivals who are bigger than you. One hit is all it takes, for them and for you.

The game mode is an endless arena against 12 AI opponents. You have one life per round; when you are smashed you see your stats and jump right back in. Your fighter gets a random color each round; rivals have their own names and colors, and each one carries a flail too. The stats track highest mass, time alive, smashes, top leaderboard position and orbs collected. The game is available in 8 languages.

Tips

On a computer you steer with the mouse (moving the cursor closer to your fighter slows you down and tightens turns) and hold the left click or Space to boost. On a phone you drag your finger and use the ⚡ button to boost.

How to play

Type your name (optional) and press PLAY. You start small with a short chain and a spawn shield for 3 seconds.

Move around and collect glowing orbs to grow. To attack, move in circles: your flail speeds up as it swings around you. When it glows red, it's at lethal speed. Hit a rival's body with it to smash them and collect the mass they drop. Slow hits only push.

Keep your own body away from fast-swinging flails. Your flail can block attacks, because flails bounce off each other.

There is no time limit. Grow as big as you can and reach the top of the leaderboard. When you're smashed, your stats are shown and you can play again.

Controls

Desktop:

- Mouse: steer (move the cursor closer to your fighter to slow down and swing tighter)

- Left click or Space (hold): boost

- Esc: open the menu (the game keeps running in the background)

Mobile:

- Drag your finger anywhere: steer (closer to your fighter = slower)

- Hold ⚡ (or touch with a second finger): boost

- ☰ button: open the menu
