About this game

Slitword.io mixes classic snake action with a word game. Your snake is made of Scrabble-style letter tiles, and it reads a word from head to tail. You glide over letters scattered across the arena to grow your word. When it spells a real word, you lock it in for points and start fresh with a new letter.

Longer words earn bigger multipliers, and 2x / 3x tiles boost a letter's value. You spell words back to back to build a combo and watch for Extra Points rounds, when words containing the bonus letter score double. But watch out: if you crash into another snake's body or the wall, your letters scatter across the field. You cut off rival snakes to make them drop theirs. You have 3 minutes to climb to the top of the leaderboard.

Tips: If you picked up a wrong letter, drop your last letter, or reroll your first letter if it is the only one. Lock in the word as soon as it is a real word of at least 3 letters. Try to include 2x/3x tiles and the bonus letter in your word. Stay away from other snakes' bodies and the arena wall.

Each round lasts 3 minutes, and the player with the highest score on the leaderboard when time runs out wins. The game is available in 8 languages: English, Türkçe, Español, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Português and Русский, and each language has its own letters, tile values and word list. On desktop you steer with the mouse, hold left click or Space to boost, use Q to drop the last letter / reroll the first, E to lock in the word and Esc to pause. On mobile you drag a finger to steer, hold the ⚡ button to boost and use the ↓ and ✓ buttons.

How to play

Enter your name, pick a snake color and press PLAY. After a 3-second countdown the round begins.

Steer your snake over letter tiles. Each letter you touch joins the end of your snake, and your snake reads a word from head to tail. When it spells a real word (at least 3 letters), lock it in to score points. Your snake then starts again with a new letter. Picked up a wrong letter? Drop your last letter, or reroll your first letter if it's the only one.

Longer words, 2x/3x tiles, combos and bonus letters give extra points. Avoid other snakes' bodies and the arena wall, or your letters scatter. Cut off rival snakes to earn bonus points and grab their letters.
