About this game
Turf.io is a free, fast-paced territory game in which every move is a risk. You start with a tiny patch of land on a big map full of rivals. When you step outside your land, you leave a glowing trail behind you. Make a loop and come home and you claim everything inside it. The longer the loop, the bigger the prize, but the longer your trail stays open for everyone to cut.
That is where the fun starts. If a rival crosses your open trail you are out and your land disappears. If you cross theirs, they are out and the way to their land is open. You can draw short, safe loops to grow steadily or take a huge risk to grab a giant chunk of the map in one go. Watch the edge of the map and your own trail, and keep an eye on the minimap to hunt careless players.
Everyone is always moving, so decisions come fast. Take over other players' territory, climb the live top-land list and see how large a share of the map you can own. Each life is quick and a new one starts in a second. You earn coins for your best land and the rivals you cut, and spend them in the shop on funny hats and land patterns such as dots, stripes, checker and diamonds; everyone sees your style on your territory. If you get cut, you can optionally watch a short ad to get your land back or to double your coins.
Tips
- At the start, draw short, safe loops; patient growth is often better than one big risk.
- While your trail is open, watch the direction of rivals and turn back if they are close.
- Before starting a big loop, look at the empty areas on the map.
- Spot careless players on the minimap and cut their trails.
You play with WASD or the arrow keys or the mouse (the head follows the cursor) on a computer, and with the joystick in landscape on a phone. No sign-up is needed.
How to play
Leave your land to draw a trail, then come back to your land to close the loop and claim everything inside it. Cross another player's open trail to cut them out, and keep your own trail safe because if anyone crosses it you lose. Do not hit the map edge or your own trail. Grow your territory and reach the top of the leaderboard.
